Baltimore Marathon 2024

The 24th annual Baltimore Running Festival, featuring the highly anticipated Baltimore Marathon, is set to take place this Saturday, attracting over 13,000 runners. The weather forecast suggests varied conditions for different participants, with cooler temperatures favorable for runners, but attendees are advised to dress warmly due to the chilly start in the morning.

Meteorologist Ava Marie has reported that temperatures will start in the 40s early in the morning, but will rise to the 60s by the afternoon, making it a cool but sunny day overall. Long-distance runners are expected to benefit from the cool temperatures and dry air, although precautions such as sunscreen and a hat are recommended because of the bright sunshine.

For spectators planning to enjoy the event, Marie advises wearing a warmer jacket than usual due to the morning chill. As the day progresses and temperatures climb, spectators can also take advantage of the pleasant weather conditions for activities such as fall hiking, as temperatures near 70 degrees by the afternoon.

Organizers have implemented several traffic modifications to accommodate the event. A left lane closure on the southbound side of Light Street, from Pratt to Conway Streets, is already in effect. Additionally, a full closure of Pratt Street, from Charles to Light Streets, will begin at 9:00 p.m. on Friday and remain until late Saturday afternoon.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to minimize delays, as traffic will be impacted in several city communities. Suggested alternate roadways include those north of 33rd Street, south of McComas Street, west of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and east of Highland Avenue.

Furthermore, commercial vehicle restrictions will be enforced from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday in certain locations. The Charm City Circulator service will be suspended from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. but will resume operations from 4:00 p.m. until midnight on race day.
