New York City Weekend Weather Forecast

New York City, NY – The New York City area is forecasted to experience wet, windy, and cooler weather this weekend, according to meteorologists. Matthew Wunsch of the National Weather Service reported that Friday will see temperatures reaching the upper 70s and possibly into the 80s.

However, clouds are expected to gather throughout the afternoon and evening, leading to chances of rain on Saturday. Wunsch noted there is a potential for isolated thunderstorms which could produce locally heavier downpours.

A cold front is then predicted to follow, cooling temperatures into the 50s. On Sunday, the forecast predicts sustained winds of around 15 mph with gusts potentially reaching 35 mph.

Looking ahead to next week, temperatures are expected to rise again into the mid-70s. Wunsch added that a high-pressure system in the atmosphere will contribute to a gradual warming trend, with some areas potentially reaching highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

As for Saturday, while the rain will ease before nightfall, winds shifting direction overnight will bring in cooler conditions for Sunday.

While the cloud cover may persist throughout Sunday, the conditions will be conducive for outdoor activities, although gusty winds could hamper outdoor planting or other activities. Wind gusts could approach 40 mph with sustained winds ranging from 20-30 mph.

The following week is expected to be dry and sunny. However, meteorologists are monitoring another storm system that may bring rain late Thursday night and into the weekend.
