Wendy’s Unveils Limited-Time Krabby Patty Meal in SpongeBob Collaboration
Wendy's, the fast-food chain headquartered in Columbus, has announced the launch of a unique meal collaboration inspired by the fictional Krabby Patty from the beloved Nickelodeon series “SpongeBob SquarePants.” Known as the Krabby Patty Kollab, this limited-time offering will be available nationwide starting from October 8 as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the animated show.
The collaboration meal will include a Krabby Patty sandwich featuring a top-secret sauce, along with fries and a “Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty,” which combines the classic vanilla frosty with a pineapple mango-flavored purée swirl. The goal of this collaboration is to bring the iconic TV item to life for enthusiasts of the franchise.
Lindsay Radkoski, Wendy’s U.S. Chief Marketing Officer, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “It makes sense that two of the most iconic squares in pop culture are teaming up to bring a taste of this unique, limited-time experience to life for fans of all ages!”
Fans of “SpongeBob SquarePants” can find the Krabby Patty Kollab at participating Wendy’s locations, as well as through the Wendy’s mobile app. California residents, particularly those in cities like San Diego, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Riverside, will have multiple stores to choose from to experience the meal.
However, not all responses to the Krabby Patty Kollab have been positive. Some fans have criticized the rollout, arguing that it contradicts the wishes of Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of “SpongeBob SquarePants.” Hillenburg, who passed away in 2018, reportedly opposed fast food tie-ins due to concerns about hidden additives, as noted in a 2004 The New York Times article related to the first “SpongeBob” movie release.
Wendy’s has also planned exclusive events for Los Angeles residents, including an early access taste opportunity on October 7 and 8, coupled with an immersive drive-thru experience in Panorama City.
