Wendy Williams Makes Emotional Return In New Documentary

After months away from the spotlight, iconic talk show TV host Wendy Williams has made an emotional return in the Lifetime two-part series titled ‘Wendy?’. The documentary, produced by Williams herself, provides a poignant look into her current life and struggles.

The recently released trailer takes viewers behind the scenes of ‘The Wendy Williams Show’, showcasing the stark contrast between Williams’ public persona and her hidden reality. One particular scene captures Williams appearing lost while driving around New York City, commenting, ‘This doesn’t look like anything familiar.’ Concern among her team members is evident as one observes, ‘I think she’s losing memory, have you guys noticed that?’ Another individual remarks, ‘Anybody can look at her and tell this is not just alcohol, there’s something more going on.’

The documentary features Williams' family expressing their worries about her wellbeing. Her son admits, ‘My mom has done a great job making it seem like everything is okay always. But in reality, there’s something wrong going on.’ This statement is followed by an off-camera question about whether Williams has seen a neurologist, to which she cynically responds, ‘To find out if I’m crazy? Mhm.’

Furthermore, the trailer hints at Williams’ financial struggles and her placement under financial guardianship by a judge. Williams’ sister and the talk show host herself raise concerns about the guardianship system. Williams shares, ‘I have no money. And I’m going to tell you something — if it happens to me, it can happen to you.’

Wendy Williams gained fame as the host of ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ from 2008 to 2021, known for her candid advice and catchphrase, ‘How you doin’?’ Prior to her talk show, she had a successful WBLS radio talk show, which was the subject of the 2006 reality series ‘The Wendy Williams Experience’.

Following her departure from hosting in 2021 due to health issues, the show had various guest hosts before ultimately being canceled in June 2022. In the documentary trailer, Williams expresses her desire to return to television.

The ‘Wendy?’ two-part documentary will premiere on Lifetime on February 24 and 25, allowing fans a deeper understanding of the challenges Williams has faced.
