Seattle City Light Crews Preparing For Windstorm

As a significant windstorm approaches West Seattle, Seattle City Light (SCL) has assured residents that they are fully prepared to handle the anticipated weather conditions. According to the National Weather Service, a wind advisory is in effect, forecasting southeast winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

SCL spokesperson Jenn Strang stated, “City Light staff and crews are prepared for the forecasted weather. We are monitoring conditions and will adjust staffing numbers as needed.”

The windstorm, part of a larger weather system described as a ‘bomb cyclone,’ is expected to bring strong east winds to the area starting in the evening, with the advisory taking effect at 2 pm. Residents are advised to stay safe and report any power outages, downed trees, or other issues via text at 206-293-6302.

As of the latest updates, power outages have already been reported in several areas, including Genesee Hill, where 55 homes were affected. Additional outages were reported in the 17th/Dawson and 52nd/Andover areas, along with reports of a tree into a house in the 8100 block of 16th SW. Emergency responders are actively addressing these incidents.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the situation closely and report any further issues to help ensure prompt responses from utility and emergency services.
