WFAA Declares Weather Alert Day for North Texas: Here’s What You Need to Know
Dallas-Fort Worth residents are advised to be on high alert as Monday, November 4, has been declared a WFAA Weather Alert Day. This designation by the WFAA Weather Team indicates that severe or impactful weather is forecasted for the region.
A WFAA Weather Alert Day is declared when severe or life-threatening weather is expected. Examples of such weather include tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail, snow, ice, flooding, or fire danger. On these days, the WFAA Weather Team provides detailed information on when the weather event will occur, its potential impact, and what residents need to know to stay safe.
For the current alert, storms are predicted to move across North Texas between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The main threats include heavy rain, lightning, hail up to the size of quarters, and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Although the tornado threat is low, it is not negligible, especially during the afternoon hours when storms are most active.
Residents are advised to stay weather-aware throughout the day. This includes having a reliable method to receive weather warnings, such as the WFAA mobile app, and staying updated with the latest forecasts and alerts from the WFAA Weather Team.
The WFAA Weather Team has introduced a new tool to help residents understand and prepare for severe weather events in North Texas. This tool is designed to provide simple and straightforward information to help keep families safe during severe weather conditions.
