Wicked: For Good Sets Record as Best PG Ticket Pre-Seller
LOS ANGELES, CA — Universal Pictures announces that its upcoming film, Wicked: For Good, has broken records as Fandango’s best PG-rated ticket pre-seller of all time. The highly anticipated sequel, directed by Jon M. Chu, is set to open in theaters on November 21, 2025.
Advance tickets for Wicked: For Good went on sale on October 8, and they have quickly become the highest ticket pre-seller of 2025, surpassing other major films such as Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie, which holds the largest domestic opening of the year at $162.7 million.
The advance ticket sales for Wicked: For Good have unseated previous record-holders, including Beauty and the Beast (2017) and Frozen 2 (2019), at the same point in the sales cycle. Jerramy Hainline, EVP of Fandango, remarked, “With fans shattering records on Fandango when tickets first went on sale for Wicked: For Good, it was clear that this electrifying finale to the worldwide sensation would soar to the same heights as the first film.”
As of now, projections estimate Wicked: For Good could earn between $112 million and $115 million during its opening weekend, with some analysts predicting even higher numbers. The film will join a competitive holiday box office landscape, where family-friendly titles traditionally perform well.
Moreover, fans can purchase a limited edition Collector’s Pack from Fandango, which includes an exclusive sketch poster of the film’s costume design, along with their movie ticket. The Round-Up feature on Fandango allows moviegoers to donate extra cents from their ticket purchase to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Wicked: For Good continues the story of Elphaba, who is now living in exile while combating injustice in Oz. The film features Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, alongside a star-studded cast. All eyes will be watching to see how the film performs compared to its predecessor, which grossed over $756 million worldwide.
