Wildfires Cause Haze Across US, Major Cities Affected

New York, NY — Wildfires in Canada are creating hazy skies across much of the United States. Air quality alerts have been issued for the Dakotas, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, stretching southward even to Florida.
As of June 3, more than 200 wildfires were reported burning in Canada, with over half categorized as ‘out of control,’ according to Canadian forest fire authorities. The smoke from these fires has spread across major cities including New York, Washington, Philadelphia, and Boston.
Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities as the haze lingers. Many health professionals warn that continued exposure to poor air quality can exacerbate respiratory issues for individuals, particularly those with preexisting conditions.
The National Weather Service is monitoring the situation closely and urges citizens to stay informed on air quality reports and health advisories. They also recommended taking precautions such as staying indoors, using air purifiers, and wearing masks if necessary.
As the summer months approach, authorities are bracing for the potential of more wildfires and smoke impacts across the nation.
