William Shatner to Host Q&A After Film Screening in Monterey
Monterey, California – William Shatner will engage with fans following a screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan at the Golden State Theatre on Nov. 15. This event is part of a growing trend where classic film actors connect with audiences through live discussions.
Shatner, who is globally recognized for his role as Captain James T. Kirk, will share insights about the film and answer questions from the audience. This interactive experience appeals to many, especially as cinema faces challenges with declining ticket sales for new releases.
“It’s really taken off,” said Steve Lisciani from Standing Ovations Live, the company behind these events. “For an audience to get the behind-the-scenes stories is a fun concept. These classic movies have a loyal following.”
Earlier this year, the Golden State Theatre hosted a screening of Napoleon Dynamite with actors Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez, and Jon Gries for a similar experience. Upcoming events include discussions with Jeff Bridges about The Big Lebowski and John Cleese on Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Shatner believes that the desire for interactive experiences is driving this trend. “Hollywood’s woes, ticket sales have slumped since the early 2000s,” he noted. Fans can look forward to more events next year, with actors like Robert Hays from Airplane! also set to appear.
As of last week, tickets for Shatner’s event were nearly sold out, indicating a strong interest in this nostalgic format.
