William Shatner Voices Climate Change Fears and Election Confusion
Legendary actor William Shatner has recently expressed his deep concerns about climate change in the wake of Donald Trump’s presidential election victory. During an appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random Podcast, Shatner highlighted the urgency of addressing global warming, emphasizing the potential irreversible consequences of four years of inaction.
“The thing that worries me the most is global warming,” Shatner told Maher. “You can’t lose four years of progress when storms that should happen once in a thousand years now occur yearly.” The conversation also touched on critical environmental issues, including the growing Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which Maher noted has expanded to the size of Alaska. Both criticized the lack of attention given to these issues during political campaigns.
In addition to his environmental concerns, Shatner has also voiced his bewilderment over the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, particularly the loss of Kamala Harris. In a recent interview, Shatner expressed confusion about why the Democrats lost, given positive economic indicators. He remarked, “I don’t know why the Democrats lost. I don’t understand … Prices have come down, the economy is good. I don’t know why they voted against her, against the party.” Shatner’s comments reflect the broader confusion among many observers who are analyzing the complex factors that influenced voter behavior.
It is worth noting that Shatner, a Canadian citizen, does not participate in U.S. elections and has previously stated his desire to remain non-political, focusing instead on his career and personal interests.
