Williamson County Schools Winter Weather Closure 2025

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Williamson County Schools announced on Monday evening that all schools will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7, due to hazardous winter weather conditions. The decision comes as icy roads and freezing temperatures continue to pose risks to commuters across the region.

Several crashes and black ice incidents have been reported in Davidson and Williamson Counties, prompting officials to prioritize safety. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has deployed crews to treat major roadways, including I-65, I-40, and I-840, with salt. However, road conditions are not expected to improve overnight, leading to the school closure announcement.

Williamson County Schools also confirmed that the School Age Child Care program will be closed on Tuesday. Parents and guardians are advised to monitor local news outlets and the district’s official communication channels for updates on potential delays or additional closures.

TDOT officials are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and secondary roads, which are more susceptible to icing. Commuters can check real-time road conditions and updates on the TDOT website or mobile app.

This winter weather event follows a Winter Weather Advisory issued earlier on Monday, which remains in effect until midnight. The advisory warned of snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches and wind gusts up to 35 mph in affected areas, including Hardin, Mercer, and Auglaize Counties in Ohio.

As the region braces for continued winter weather, residents are encouraged to stay informed and avoid unnecessary travel during hazardous conditions.
