Winter Storm Huntington West Virginia 2025

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A severe winter storm continues to wreak havoc across the Midwest and Appalachia, leaving hazardous road conditions and significant snowfall in its wake. Today and tomorrow remain First Alert Weather Days for the region, with a mix of rain, sleet, ice, and snow causing widespread disruptions. The hardest-hit areas have already seen up to 6 inches of snow and nearly a quarter-inch of ice, making untreated roads nearly impassable.

After a brief lull in precipitation, a new wave of snow and colder temperatures is expected to sweep in from the west this afternoon, complicating the evening commute. Forecasters predict an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow by tomorrow morning, further challenging road conditions. Authorities are urging residents to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.

In Nebraska, the Douglas County Health Department has issued warnings about the health risks posed by the extreme cold and wind chills. Residents are advised to take precautions to avoid frostbite and hypothermia. Nebraska City saw its first flurries around 4 p.m. on Saturday, giving locals some time to prepare for the worsening conditions.

First responders have been working tirelessly to assist those affected by the storm.
