Winter Storm Leaves Over 115,000 Without Power in Indiana, Kentucky
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A severe winter storm has left over 115,000 customers without power across southwestern Indiana and Kentucky as of early Monday morning. Heavy ice and snow have caused widespread electric outages, with nearly 61,000 affected in Indiana and over 54,000 in Kentucky.
According to a press release from CenterPoint Energy, the outages in Indiana have steadily increased through Sunday evening due to ice accumulation and falling tree limbs damaging power lines. Crews have been working around the clock to assess damage and restore power, prioritizing critical facilities such as hospitals, water treatment plants, and public service facilities.
