Winter Storm Threatens Texas with Snow, Ice, and Heavy Rain
A cold weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Texas until 9 a.m. Tuesday, with temperatures hovering near or below freezing. However, the day is expected to bring sunshine and highs close to 50 degrees, offering a brief respite from the chill.
Another near-freeze is forecast for Tuesday night, followed by increasing clouds and another chilly day on Wednesday. The real trouble begins Thursday, as a winter storm originating in West Texas sweeps eastward, bringing significant snow threats to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and heavy, cold rain to Houston.
The storm’s most concerning aspect is the potential for ice accumulation, particularly north of College Station and Huntsville. While the Houston metropolitan area is unlikely to see significant ice or snow, sleet pellets may mix with the rain. Coastal regions could experience heavy rain on Thursday and early Friday.
After the storm passes, clear and cold mornings are expected to return for the weekend. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions through local news and weather apps.
