Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Central Ohio Amid Snowstorm
The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a winter weather advisory for Central Ohio, including Franklin County, as a snowstorm is expected to bring hazardous road conditions starting Thursday. The advisory remains in effect from 1 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, with 1-to-3 inches of snow forecast for the Columbus area.
Over 20 other Ohio counties are under a similar advisory, with 2-to-4 inches of snow expected from 11 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday. Temperatures will remain below freezing, creating slick and icy road conditions. The storm is also expected to impact parts of Indiana and West Virginia.
Franklin County is not currently under a snow emergency, as the Level 1 snow emergency was lifted Tuesday afternoon. A Level 1 emergency indicates hazardous roads with blowing and drifting snow, potentially icy conditions, and urges drivers to exercise caution.
The National Weather Service warned that the snowstorm could significantly impact travel during the late afternoon and evening hours on Friday. Residents are advised to prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility.
