Winter Weather Forecast Unfolds After Warm Weekend in D.C.
WASHINGTON — A significant shift in weather is expected as winter-like temperatures return to the D.C. area after a warm weekend. On Thursday, temperatures are forecasted to reach highs between 57 and 62 degrees, accompanied by sunny skies and breezy conditions.
As night falls, temperatures could drop to the low 30s, making for a chilly evening. Winds are expected to shift from northwest at 10 to 15 mph, contributing to the brisk feel.
The forecast also indicates possible rain later in the week. Scattered showers are likely to begin late Friday night into early Saturday, particularly in the early morning hours. Weather experts are also keeping an eye on a system bringing showers on Sunday, which could coincide with the Washington Commanders‘ game.
In addition to the potential precipitation, a cold front is moving in over the weekend, leading to a temperature drop. Sunday may see mild conditions in the upper 60s, but as the front approaches, temperatures are expected to plunge into the 30s by Sunday night. The Allegany Front region might even experience upslope snow showers.
Monday’s weather is predicted to be significantly colder, with highs only reaching the 40s and 50s. The wind chill may make it feel even colder. By Tuesday, conditions may remain blustery, with winds in the mountains potentially meeting Wind Advisory criteria. Temperatures during the day will likely stay in the 40s under partly cloudy skies.
As the week progresses, Wednesday’s forecast anticipates a slight rebound in temperatures, reaching the mid- to upper 50s.
The coming days will see fluctuating temperatures and the potential for rain, marking a bittersweet end to the warm start of November.
