Wisconsin Polls: Tight Races in Presidential and Senate Elections as Voting Day Approaches
As the 2024 general election approaches, Wisconsin remains a crucial battleground state with highly competitive races in both the presidential and U.S. Senate elections. According to the latest polls from the Florida Atlantic University Political Communication and Public Opinion Research Lab (PolCom Lab) and MainStreet Research, the presidential race between U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and former U.S. President Donald Trump is extremely close in Wisconsin.
In Wisconsin, Harris and Trump are virtually tied, with Harris leading by a single percentage point, 49% to 48%, and 2% of voters remaining undecided. Harris holds a significant lead among women, 54% to 43%, while Trump maintains an advantage among men, 53% to 43%. Additionally, Harris leads among white college graduates by a substantial margin, 58% to 39%, whereas Trump leads among white non-college voters, 55% to 42%.
The U.S. Senate race in Wisconsin is also highly competitive, with Democrat Tammy Baldwin holding a narrow two-point lead over Republican Eric Hovde, 47% to 45%. Baldwin performs better among voters aged 50 and older, leading 51% to 47%, while Hovde has a slight edge among 18–49-year-olds, 43% to 42%.
The polls highlight the importance of party loyalty and the potential impact of split-ticket voting in these closely watched states. In Wisconsin, 77% of voters plan to vote for one party across all offices, while 15% intend to mix parties, and the remaining voters are either undecided or plan to vote differently for president versus House/Senate races.
Voters in Wisconsin are also advised to verify their polling locations due to recent redistricting changes. The City Clerk’s Office in Madison encourages voters to check their polling locations at https://MyVote.wi.gov before heading to the polls to avoid any confusion).
