Jay Weber Criticism News Or Wisconsin Radio Host Jay Weber Faces Backlash Over Comments On Governor Walz's Son

Milwaukee radio host Jay Weber has recently come under fire for his remarks regarding Gus Walz, the 17-year-old son of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The controversy erupted after a video of Gus Walz’s emotional reaction to his father’s speech at the Democratic National Convention went viral.

In the video, Gus Walz, who has ADHD and a non-verbal learning disorder, can be seen fighting back tears as he proudly exclaims, ‘That’s my dad!’ during Governor Walz’s speech. This heartfelt moment was met with ridicule from Weber, who referred to Gus using disparaging language in a now-deleted post on X.

Weber’s original comments described the moment as ’embarrassing’ for both father and son. Following public backlash, he issued an apology, stating he did not realize the teenager had a disability. Weber expressed regret for violating his own principle of keeping children out of political discourse, acknowledging, ‘I broke that and I’m disappointed with myself.’

Not only did Weber’s comments receive widespread condemnation, but they also prompted others to share their experiences. Former First Lady Michelle Obama praised Gus Walz for his display of love and vulnerability, urging society to embrace such warmth instead of making fun of it.

Craig Peterson, a longtime Republican strategist with a son who has Down syndrome, called out Weber for his comments, noting the hurt it caused families with special needs children. Peterson mentioned that he thought of his own son while watching Gus’s emotional moment.
