Woman And Children Hospitalized After Acid Attack In South London

A woman and her two young children have been rushed to the hospital in south London after a man threw a suspected corrosive substance at them. The incident took place in Lessar Avenue, near Clapham Common, at around 7.25pm on Wednesday. Three members of the public who came to the family’s aid were also injured during the attack.

According to witnesses, the woman’s children were crying out in distress saying, “I can’t see, I can’t see” as they were being assisted. Detectives believe the substance used in the attack is corrosive, though further tests are being conducted to determine its exact nature.

Three police officers who arrived at the scene were also injured, but their injuries are reported to be minor. Detective Superintendent Alexander Castle stated that they are currently pursuing the suspect and investigating the motive behind this terrible incident. Police have not made any arrests yet.

Labour’s London Assembly member for Lambeth & Southwark, Marina Ahmad, shared the news on social media and urged anyone with information to come forward and contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
