Woman Dies After Houston Collision; Two Others Injured

HOUSTON, Texas – A woman has died following a two-vehicle crash in southwest Houston on June 5, according to the Houston Police Department. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Reem Musallam.

The violent collision took place around 2:10 p.m. in the 9300 block of Fondren Road, where a white Honda Accord and a white Ford F-250 were involved. Witnesses reported that both vehicles were traveling south at high speeds.

Police say the Honda switched lanes and entered the path of the Ford, resulting in a crash that left the Honda split in half and the Ford overturned. The impact also knocked down power lines, affecting approximately 300 customers in the area.

Emergency crews responded swiftly, transporting all parties to local hospitals. Musallam was critically injured and later died at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. The drivers of both vehicles are reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities are investigating the possibility that both cars were racing before the crash. They estimate the vehicles were traveling at speeds of at least 70 mph at the time of the impact.

CenterPoint Energy released a statement expressing condolences to those affected and acknowledged their teams are working diligently to restore power to the affected customers.

This tragic incident highlights the potential dangers of speeding and reckless driving. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
