SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — Authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was discovered Monday afternoon at a home on Parkway in Schuylkill Haven. State police and Schuylkill County deputy coroners remained on the scene late into the night, with the entrance to the property cordoned off by yellow caution tape.

The Schuylkill County Communications Center reported that the coroner’s office was dispatched to 20 Parkway at 2:38 p.m. after the body was found. As of 10:15 p.m., investigators were still processing the scene, and the death was classified as suspicious, according to a state police trooper on site.

Schuylkill County Coroner David Moylan III confirmed that three deputy coroners had responded to the scene. “The investigation into the death is ongoing,” Moylan said, adding that he had not yet been informed whether the deceased’s next of kin had been notified.

Schuylkill Haven Police Chief Jeffrey Walcott, who was present at the scene, declined to comment and referred all inquiries to state police. Moylan noted that it was the Schuylkill Haven Police Department’s decision to involve state police in the investigation.

Republican Herald reporter Amy Marchiano remained at the scene late Monday night, providing updates on the developing story. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death or her identity.
