ALBANY, N.Y. — Keri Mazzuca, a 45-year-old woman from Altamont, is set to plead guilty on Thursday to charges related to the 1997 murder of an infant known as ‘Baby Moses.’ The hearing will take place at 1:30 p.m. in Albany County Court before Judge Roger McDonough.
Mazzuca has been charged with murder, concealment of a human corpse, and tampering with physical evidence. According to prosecutors, Mazzuca left the deceased baby near the Moses statue in Washington Park, Albany, on September 7, 1997.
The case remained unsolved for over two decades before Mazzuca’s arrest last September, as advancements in forensic science and investigative techniques played a crucial role in uncovering details that led to her detention.
Officials from the Albany County District Attorney’s Office confirmed her court appearance and noted that a NewsChannel 13 crew will provide live updates from the proceedings.
The tragic case of Baby Moses captured significant media attention and raised questions about child welfare and the legal systems involved. As Mazzuca prepares to face the court, this pivotal moment offers a potential resolution to a long-standing mystery that has haunted the local community.
