Wren Clair Returns to KARE 11 as Meteorologist on May 19

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Meteorologist Wren Clair is set to return to the airwaves at KARE 11 on May 19, after unexpectedly leaving KSTP earlier this year.
“We’re excited to have Wren join the team of talented meteorologists at KARE 11,” said Doug Wieder, the station’s president and general manager. He praised her expertise in weather forecasting and commitment to viewers, stating it aligns perfectly with KARE 11’s mission.
Clair, a native of Hopkins, Minnesota, left KSTP in February after nearly seven years with the station. At that time, KSTP news director Kirk Varner confirmed her departure but did not provide further details.
Since joining KSTP in June 2018, Clair became a viewer favorite, taking over as the primary evening meteorologist for the “5 Eyewitness News” newscast after chief meteorologist Dave Dahl retired in 2020. She holds a master’s degree in environmental science and policy from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Mississippi State University, along with other degrees from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
Before her time at KSTP, Clair worked in cities such as Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and Boston. Notably, she covered significant flooding in January 2018 during her tenure in Boston. Additionally, she has a background in chemistry and has authored publications related to organic synthesis.
Clair is also involved in community service, having tutored math and science and taught GED-seeking students in St. Paul. She has volunteered at the Union Gospel Mission’s dental clinic and previously led a children’s dental outreach program.
Currently, she is not very active on social media except for LinkedIn, where she updated her profile to reflect her new role at KARE 11.
