On Wednesday, as part of the Navarathri festivities, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, a notable member of the Mysore royal family, conducted the Saraswati Puja at Kannadi Thotti located within the historic Mysore Palace. The religious ceremonies were held during an auspicious time between 10:05 a.m. and 10:35 a.m., in accordance with traditional practices upheld by the royal family during the Navarathri celebrations.
The Saraswati Puja involved various rituals, where offerings were made to palm manuscripts, books, and musical instruments including a veena and tabla, symbolizing the deep reverence for the arts and learning attributed to the goddess Saraswati. The rituals were accompanied by the chanting of Vedic hymns by the palace priests, further enhancing the spiritual ambiance of the ceremony.
Aadyaveer Narasimharaja Wadiyar, son of Yaduveer Wadiyar, was also present during the rituals, continuing the family’s tradition of engaging the younger generation in cultural practices.
The Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament, Yaduveer Wadiyar, who has remained actively involved in cultural activities as part of his royal heritage, performed the rituals with fidelity to the ancestral customs. This year’s Navarathri festivities hold particular significance, as the event occurred against the backdrop of a joyous familial expansion following the birth of Yaduveer’s second son with wife Trishika Kumari Devi.
Trishika Kumari Devi recently gave birth to their second male child at a private hospital in Mysuru. Both mother and child are reported to be in good health, adding to the festive spirit enveloping the royal household during the Navarathri celebrations.
