87-Year-Old Woman Dies After Tucson Crash In March

TUCSON, Ariz. — An 87-year-old woman involved in a March car crash has died from her injuries, according to a release from the Tucson Police Department.
Patricia Smith was critically injured on March 4 around 1:30 p.m. when her Ford Escape collided with a Toyota Sienna at North Wilmot Road near the St. Joseph’s Emergency Department driveway. Witnesses reported that Smith was making a left turn from the southbound lanes of Wilmot onto the St. Joseph’s drive when the northbound Sienna struck her vehicle.
Officers noted that there were no traffic controls at the intersection where the crash occurred, and preliminary investigations indicated that neither driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.
Smith was transported to a local hospital for treatment following the collision. On March 29, the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner notified police that Smith had succumbed to her injuries.
