Jd(u) Confirms Continued Support For Nda Amid Speculations, Nitish Kumar's Allegiance Questioned

Amid ongoing political speculations, the Janata Dal (United) party has officially confirmed its unwavering support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the aftermath of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. The allegiance of JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar, known for his political flexibility, has been questioned as he was recently seen boarding a flight with Rashtriya Janata Dal‘s Tejashwi Yadav, a member of the INDIA bloc.

Addressing the uncertainties surrounding Nitish Kumar’s stance, senior JD(U) leader KC Tyagi spoke to News18, reaffirming the party’s commitment to remaining part of the NDA. Tyagi emphasized the significance of the NDA government in delivering justice to the state of Bihar and expressed contentment with the election results, noting the coalition’s ability to secure a majority under Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s leadership.

With the Election Commission of India reporting that the BJP has obtained 240 seats in the Lok Sabha, falling short of the majority mark of 272, the importance of alliance partners like JD(U) in securing the government formation cannot be understated. The NDA, with the support of its allies, has clinched a total of 292 seats, surpassing the required threshold for governance.

In Bihar, where there are 40 Lok Sabha seats at stake, JD(U) emerged victorious in 12 seats, while the BJP secured 12 seats as well. Other NDA constituents in Bihar, including Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha, won five and one seat respectively. Sources indicated that JD(U) has put forth demands for three Cabinet positions in the new government formation.

As the political landscape continues to evolve post-elections, the affirmation of JD(U)’s support for the NDA not only solidifies the coalition’s position but also raises questions about Nitish Kumar’s historical political allegiances and the potential impact on Bihar’s governance.
