Kehlani Live Concert Springfest 2025 Matthews Arena

Boston, MA — Kehlani electrified the crowd during her headlining performance at the annual Springfest concert on March 29, 2025, at Northeastern University‘s Matthews Arena, following a whirlwind 54-show world tour.

The high-energy event, hosted by the Council for University Programs (CUP), drew enthusiastic fans eager to enjoy live music. “Kehlani had gotten a lot of votes on our summer survey, so we had indication that students at Northeastern were really interested in seeing her,” said Vienna Volinsky, a fifth-year communication studies major and associate director of concerts for CUP.

As the doors opened, attendees rushed in to experience the lively atmosphere, punctuated by bright lights and DJ Baby Indiglo’s captivating set that energized the crowd before openers Isaac Dunbar took the stage.

Dunbar, who performed fan favorites like “makeup drawer” and “kissy kissy,” expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform in front of such a large audience. “This is the biggest crowd I’ve ever performed in front of,” Dunbar said, sparking cheers from the fans.

When Kehlani finally stepped onto the stage, the excitement reached a fever pitch. She launched her performance with the hit “Next 2 U,” captivating the audience as she transitioned into a series of high-energy songs including “What I Want,” “Sucia,” and “Distraction.”

“When she came down to the floor section, it was unreal,” said a thrilled Malina Duong, a third-year psychology major. “The connection she created with the crowd was incredible.”

In addition to her powerful vocals, Kehlani showcased dynamic dance routines alongside her talented dancers, enhancing the overall experience. During “Gangsta,” she shared the spotlight with her guitarist, creating an engaging rock vibe.

As the show progressed, Kehlani slowed the tempo, performing emotional ballads like “Honey” and “everything,” prompting fans to wave their phone flashlights in the air in a touching display of unity.

The crowd erupted in applause during “Lose My Wife,” with audience member Kiki Biaou remarking, “She slowed it down a lot, which was such a nice touch. It made the concert feel intimate.”

In the final segment of her set, Kehlani amplified the excitement once again, performing tracks like “Deep” and a cover of Jordan Adetunji’s “KEHLANI,” which engaged the audience in a sing-along. She capped off the evening with fan favorites “Nights Like This” and “After Hours.”

“Everything after ‘Honey’ was hit after hit,” said Felicia Sobande, a fourth-year biochemistry major, who expressed delight over the value of the experience, despite her aching feet from standing for nearly four hours.

Audience members reflected on their love for Kehlani, with many noting their long-standing admiration. “I’ve been a fan since middle school. Getting to see her live was a must,” said Duong, who attended the concert with family.

As the show concluded, Kehlani expressed her gratitude once more, waving goodbye before leaving the stage, leaving fans buzzing from the memorable performance.
