Nashville Severe Weather Alerts

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) — Severe weather is expected to impact the Nashville area Friday evening and into Saturday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 4 alert, indicating a significant risk for severe storms.

As the storm approaches, residents are advised to stay weather-ready throughout the day. An isolated thunderstorm could develop earlier, especially in northwest Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky, with the potential to produce heavy rain, damaging winds, and even an isolated tornado.

The main threat is expected to arrive later in the evening, with a strong wave of storms forecasted between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. Damaging wind gusts, torrential rainfall, and even hail have been predicted, raising concerns about possible tornadoes in the area.

By 11:51 p.m. on Thursday, tornado watches had already been canceled for several counties, including Trousdale, Macon, and Robertson in Tennessee, as well as multiple counties in Kentucky. However, outages have been reported, with over 14,000 customers in northern Middle Tennessee without power, according to the local electric companies.

The severe weather isn’t just a one-time event; it continues into the weekend, with additional storms possible. Residents should review their emergency plans and stay informed via weather apps for real-time alerts.

Local meteorologists emphasize the importance of having a safe place to go in case of severe weather, urging the community to take these warnings seriously. The forecast indicates a consistently warm and humid day, with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 80s.
