Deadline Looms for Biden Aides Amid Congressional Health Probe

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today marks the deadline for former aides of President Joe Biden to respond to interview requests from congressional investigators. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., is seeking answers regarding the aides’ roles in a probe into Biden’s health and reported use of an autopen.
Comer has demanded that four high-ranking staff members from Biden’s administration testify in transcribed interviews. The aides include Neera Tanden, former director of the Domestic Policy Council; Annie Tomasini, former assistant to the President and Deputy Chief of Staff; Anthony Bernal, former senior advisor to the first lady; and Ashley Williams, former deputy director of Oval Office operations. He accused them of “covering up” the former president’s alleged mental decline during his term.
Reports indicate that lawyers representing Tanden, Bernal, Tomasini, and Williams have contacted the committee, yet no interviews have been confirmed or scheduled. There has been no communication with Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s former physician.
While members of the Biden family have remained silent regarding the investigation, Michael LaRosa, a former White House press secretary, voiced concerns about Comer’s intentions. “He spent two years trying to take on the family and came up with nothing. He went fishing in a dry lake,” LaRosa said.
If the aides do not confirm their participation by the end of the day, Comer has stated that the committee is prepared to issue subpoenas. During an interview on “Hannity,” Comer asserted, “We believe these are the staffers that were responsible for using the autopen. We want to ask them, ‘Who gave you the authority to use Joe Biden’s signature?’”
