London, England – Oscar winner Susan Sarandon will make her UK theatre debut alongside Oscar nominee Andrea Riseborough in the UK premiere of Tracy Letts’ play Mary Page Marlowe at the Old Vic this autumn. Directed by Matthew Warchus, this production features multiple actresses portraying the title character at different life stages spanning 70 years.

Mary Page Marlowe tells the story of an accountant and mother from Ohio, presented as a “time-jumping mosaic.” The play runs from September 23 to November 1, 2025, marking a high-profile return for Sarandon, who last appeared on Broadway in 2019.

Sarandon expressed her excitement, stating, “I’m so honoured to be asked to be in a play during Matthew Warchus’s final season at the Old Vic. Terrified but excited.” Riseborough, who last performed on stage 15 years ago in Ivanov, said of the opportunity, “It’s an honour to be taking on the role of Mary, alongside the extraordinary Susan Sarandon.”

Warchus praised Letts as “one of America’s greatest living writers” and noted that this production will be staged in-the-round, creating an immersive experience for audiences. The Old Vic will undergo significant changes to accommodate this format during Warchus’s final season as artistic director.

Letts, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright known for August: Osage County, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to present his work in London, saying, “I’m deeply gratified to have Mary Page Marlowe at the Old Vic, featuring these remarkable actresses.”

This marks Mary Page Marlowe’s first appearance in the UK, following its premiere at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago in 2016 and its Off-Broadway run in 2018.
