Ben Simmons Looks for New Deal in NBA Free Agency

Los Angeles, CA – Ben Simmons is entering the 2025 NBA free agency while reportedly seeking a contract above the league minimum, according to The Athletic.
Simmons had limited playtime for the Los Angeles Clippers after being traded midseason from the Brooklyn Nets. He averaged just 8.4 minutes per game during the Clippers’ short playoff appearance, scoring a total of four points across five games.
With Simmons now a free agent and looking for a better offer, it seems unlikely the Clippers will extend a strong offer. By the end of the season, Simmons was nearly out of the rotation, and experts believe a fresh start may be in store for him.
“He’s a free agent. He eventually faded out of the rotation completely for the Clippers. I don’t expect him to be back,” said NBA analyst Murray. “If he comes back, it’d be on a very low number. You need someone who’s a threat on both sides of the ball.”
Simmons’ past has been dotted with injuries and holdouts. He suffered season-ending back injuries in 2023 and 2024 while with the Nets before being waived before last season’s trade deadline. He then signed with the Clippers on February 10, 2025.
Throughout his time with both teams, Simmons played 51 games and averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists while shooting 52.0 percent from the field in 22 minutes per game.
As he prepares for his seventh year in the league, reports suggest the Toronto Raptors could be a potential destination. SportsNet has linked the 6’10” point guard to their franchise.
