Jamal Adams Las Vegas Raiders Training Camp

Las Vegas, NV – The Detroit Lions struggled with injuries in their secondary as the regular season came to a close, prompting them to bring in veteran players to fill the gaps. However, mixed results followed as the team tried to secure a playoff spot.

One notable addition, despite his extensive experience, failed to make an impact. Jamal Adams, after just two starts with the Lions defense, was released, marking yet another low point in his career.

Now, Adams has joined the Las Vegas Raiders, where he hopes to revive his career in the AFC West. His signing was largely influenced by his previous relationship with Raiders head coach Pete Carroll, with whom he worked during their time at the Seattle Seahawks. Early reports from Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal indicate that Adams has performed well in training camp.

However, a strong performance in practice does not guarantee success in actual games. If Adams can rediscover his former prowess on the field, it could be a significant boost for both him and the Raiders. Conversely, if he continues to struggle, fans in Detroit may have little reason to remember him fondly.

Before his short-lived stint with the Lions, Adams played for the struggling Tennessee Titans, where he requested his release after being placed on the reserve/non-football injury list. He played only 20 snaps over three games.

In Detroit, Adams’s performance didn’t improve much as he recorded just three tackles in his two games before being cut on January 1, 2025. Having suffered a torn quad tendon during Week 1 of the 2022 season, Adams may not have had many options left if not for Carroll’s offer.

As the rest of the league prepares for the preseason, the football world will soon find out if Adams has anything left to give, and whether his new contract with the Raiders is a smart move or just another disappointment.
