Alicia Silverstone And Brooke Shields Acorn Tv Shows

NEW YORK — Alicia Silverstone, known for her role in the iconic film “Clueless,” has joined Acorn TV for a new original series titled “Irish Blood.” The show, which premiered this Monday, features Silverstone as Fiona Sharpe, a Los Angeles divorce lawyer who travels to Ireland to uncover the mystery surrounding her absent father.

AMC Networks is banking on Silverstone’s widespread appeal to attract more viewers to Acorn TV, which focuses on British dramas and international programming. Silverstone expressed her excitement about the series, stating, “I thought it was quirky and also an emotionally deep drama.”

In addition to Silverstone, Brooke Shields has been cast in another Acorn project titled “You’re Killing Me.” Shields plays a mystery author who collaborates with a young aspiring writer to solve murders in a small New England town. This series is set to begin filming this summer and will premiere in 2026.

AMC Networks aims to expand its subscriber base, with Acorn TV recognized as the most profitable of its streaming services. According to Courtney Thomasma, AMC’s executive vice president for streaming, the company plans to invest more in the brand to draw in a wider audience, especially by featuring familiar faces to North American viewers.

In recent months, Acorn has seen a significant rise in subscriptions. A promotional campaign named Murder Mystery May drove sign-ups to a four-year high, with viewers logging an impressive 20 million hours of content watched during that time.

Silverstone, who has taken an active role as an executive producer on “Irish Blood,” also participated in the development and hiring for the series. Meanwhile, Shields is involved as an executive producer for “You’re Killing Me,” marking a new chapter in her career where she enjoys greater creative control.

AMC Networks remains focused on appealing to niche audiences with its various streaming services while keeping subscription prices under $10 a month. As it branches further into the mystery genre, the company hopes to retain its unique British flavor while attracting a younger audience.

With the launch of new series such as “Art Detectives” and a collaboration with other broadcasters, Acorn is poised for continued growth in an ever-competitive streaming market.
