KT Rolster Shocks Gen.G in Thrilling LCK Playoffs Match

Seoul, South Korea — KT Rolster delivered a stunning upset by defeating Gen.G 3-2 in the Round 2 playoffs of the 2025 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK). This victory ended Gen.G’s impressive seven-month unbeaten streak in Best-of-Five matches and secured KT’s spot for the World Championships.
The highly anticipated matchup served as a litmus test for both teams. Gen.G, who finished the regular season in first place and had nearly been invincible this year, opted to face KT Rolster after their strong performance. Experts favored Gen.G, as all their players were selected for the All-Pro Summer roster, but KT managed to defy predictions.
KT started the series strong, dominating the first game by controlling most objectives, including dragons, Baron, and towers, finishing in under 30 minutes with a 18-3 victory and over 9,000 gold lead. However, Gen.G retaliated quickly in game two, leveraging their superior engagements to win 18-14 and equalize the series.
Game three saw Gen.G display their championship might, maintaining an even matchup until several pivotal team fights handed them an overwhelming advantage and a final score of 21-6. Despite this, KT refused to back down, pushing the series into a decisive fifth game after a closely-fought fourth match that went the full 38 minutes.
In the final match, Gen.G initially gained an early lead with nearly a 3,000 gold advantage and two dragons. Yet, KT turned the tide in a critical team fight around the dragon, securing an ace and shifting momentum entirely. KT then seized the second Baron, executed their rotations effectively, and claimed victory after a tense 41-minute duel with a score of 25-10.
Two players stood out in KT’s victory. Cuzz, the jungler, had a decisive impact and was awarded the series MVP. His performance was marked by effective engages and solid decision-making, exemplified by his crucial Wukong play in game five, where he recorded a 5/2/15 score. Bdd also made significant contributions, leading team fights with champions like Lissandra and Zoe.
With this success, KT Rolster advances to Round 4 of the upper bracket, awaiting the victor of the upcoming match between T1 and Hanwha Life Esports. With their World Championship spot secured, they have confirmed their return to the international stage. As for Gen.G, the loss sends them to the Losers’ Bracket, where they must fight to remain in the tournament.
