Charlotte Knights Baseball Game

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte Knights lost to the Durham Bulls 9-6 in the first game of their final homestand for the season. Despite strong performances from players Adam Hackenberg and Drake Logan, the Knights could not complete a comeback.

Hackenberg kicked off the scoring in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run home run that measured 405 feet. It was Hackenberg’s first home run at the Triple-A level this season. However, the Bulls responded with a formidable fourth inning, scoring five runs, two of which were unearned, to take a 5-2 lead.

The Bulls added another run in the fifth inning, pushing their lead to 6-2. The Knights began to rally in the sixth. Andre Lipcius scored their first run of the inning on a wild pitch, followed by RBI hits from Logan and Hackenberg, narrowing the score to 6-5.

The Bulls answered back with two solo home runs, bringing the score to 8-5. In the eighth inning, the Knights made another attempt to close the gap. Jacob Gonzalez brought in another run with an RBI single, but a critical catch by a Bulls player thwarted Charlotte’s hopes for a game-tying hit.

The Knights’ pitching showed strength with Jonathan Cannon on the mound, supported by Bryce Wilson, Dalton Roach, and Jairo Iriarte, who collectively maintained the team’s competitiveness. Dru Baker also contributed two hits throughout the game.

Game two of the series is set for Wednesday evening at Truist Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM ET.
