FC Porto Prepares for Match Against Rio Ave with Squad Changes

Vila do Conde, Portugal — FC Porto travels to Vila do Conde on Friday night for the sixth round of the Primeira Liga, aiming to continue their undefeated streak at the top of the table.
Head coach Miguel Farioli has made changes to the squad, including the return of William Gomes, who is the only player from the injured list to recover. Although Gomes is expected to start on the bench, his inclusion is a boost for the team.
Farioli also added right-back Pablo Rosario and midfielder Alan Varela to the lineup after recovering from injuries. The Spanish winger Borja Sainz is also back after being called up due to injuries within the squad.
However, players such as defender Diogo Costa and midfielder Bednarek are sidelined due to ongoing recovery from their injuries. New signing Kiwior has not yet entered the lineup as he works to build physical fitness.
This match marks the first of three consecutive away games for FC Porto, with future matches also scheduled against Arouca and another opponent. The management of the squad’s energy will be crucial during this demanding stretch, but Farioli is not expected to make significant changes to the starting eleven.
In the previous three visits to Vila do Conde, Porto has one win, one draw, and one loss. Last season’s encounter saw Anselmi’s debut in the league while coaching Porto, prior to the team’s game in Belgrade.
FC Porto’s record against Rio Ave at Estádio dos Arcos is impressive, with only two losses in 34 encounters. The team has secured 22 wins and drawn 10 matches.
Fans are excited for this electrifying matchup, hoping for another strong performance from the team to maintain their excellent form as they face Rio Ave.
