Mac Demarco Guitar Album Release

Asheville, N.C. — Mac DeMarco, the beloved indie musician, has once again captured the hearts of fans with his new album, “Guitar.” Released on September 19, 2025, DeMarco’s latest project offers a deeper, more honest reflection of his life and experiences.

Recorded in just two weeks, DeMarco took full control of the album’s production, stating it represents his current state more than any of his previous works. The simplicity of the musical arrangement, featuring just guitar and drums, marks a departure from his signature psychedelic sound. “It’s as close to a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper,” he explained.

Fans may find the album’s polished melodies and straightforward beats a departure from the hazy synths and drown-out vocals typically associated with DeMarco. However, this raw approach aligns perfectly with the confessional and vulnerable themes present throughout the 12-track project.

The lyrics dive into the universal struggles of growing older, exploring themes such as self-loathing, resignation, and existential dread. In one of his poignant lines, DeMarco sings, “Curse, carried on forever in me / Curse, from which I may never be free,” illustrating the internal battles many face as they navigate adulthood.

Though the album being somber, it ends on a note of acceptance and resilience. “Dimmer future / Things are looking kinda used up / Darling, I don’t mind / I’ll still rise up with the rooster,” he sings, providing a balm for listeners grappling with their own growing pains.

With “Guitar,” DeMarco invites audiences to engage with his raw and revealing journey, making it clear that vulnerability can also lead to healing and maturity.
