Jets Struggle Again, Fall to 0-2 After Bills Defeat
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Aaron Glenn stood on the sideline late in Sunday’s game, sweat dripping from his forehead as he watched the New York Jets lose to the Buffalo Bills, 30-10. His frustration was evident as he expressed disappointment over his team’s performance in their second consecutive loss of the season.
In the first quarter, Glenn confronted defensive end Micheal Clemons after a costly penalty. His anger continued as he signaled for urgency to offensive captain Garrett Wilson, indicating the need for swift action as the team struggled on all fronts.
After the game, Glenn’s ire was palpable during the post-game press conference, where he reacted sharply to questions about the team’s passing game, stating, “It wasn’t good.” The Jets now sit at 0-2 for the first time since 2021, leading to speculation about their future performance.
Glenn referenced the urgency of the situation, with owner Woody Johnson and fans impatiently waiting for a turnaround. The Jets’ offense gained a mere 154 yards, with 54 of those coming late in the game when the outcome was no longer in doubt. Comparatively, quarterback Justin Fields had good and bad performances in the first two weeks as he adjusted to the team.
“I want to take a look at every player and I want to take a look at every coach,” Glenn said during the press conference. “There’s no stone that won’t go unturned.” He is determined to find accountability in light of the team’s disappointing start and poor execution.
The Jets’ defensive effort was disappointing, with missed tackles and penalties contributing to their demise. Clemons, who committed a critical penalty during the game, was a target of Glenn’s frustration on the sideline.
“Those are things we talk about all week that we can’t do,” Wilson emphasized, highlighting the need for better discipline and execution. “If you do stuff like that, you’re going to find yourself in a tough spot.”
As the team approached halftime down 20-3, the outlook seemed grim. The Jets faced injuries to key players, including defensive end Jermaine Johnson and cornerback Michael Carter II. Fields suffered a head injury that forced him to leave the game.
Glenn addressed the team’s performance, acknowledging that they fell short of expectations and needed to improve. “I’ve been here before as a coach, and I have to look at myself,” he explained. “It’s not OK to lose like that. We have to fix those problems and move on to next week.”
The Jets will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in what will be an important match as they seek to end their losing streak.
