North Texas Weather Storm Forecast

DALLAS – North Texas residents may need to stay alert for severe thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several counties around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, effective until 10 p.m.

Weather forecasts indicate that while early morning skies are mostly sunny, strong winds are expected to pick up throughout the day. Winds could reach 20 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph likely during late-day storms. These conditions place the region under a Level 1 marginal risk, suggesting that some storms may bring gusty winds, quarter-sized hail, brief heavy rain, and frequent lightning.

The best chance for rain and storms will arise north and northwest of Dallas, with development predicted after 3 or 4 p.m. These storms are expected to shift south and southeast as the evening progresses, with lingering clouds and showers tapering off before midnight.

Looking ahead, temperatures are forecasted to hit the mid-80s on Sunday. By Monday afternoon, they are expected to climb back into the mid-90s. A more substantial chance for showers and storms is anticipated on Tuesday evening and night, as a fall front approaches, promising more seasonable temperatures into the following weekend.
