Santos Sao Paulo Football Match

SÃO PAULO, Brazil — Santos will face São Paulo on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Brasília time in a vital match for both teams in the 24th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Santos is desperate for a win after four games without a victory, sitting just one point above the relegation zone.

The team led by coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda seeks its first win under his guidance, having recorded two draws against Fluminense and Atlético-MG. Santos currently has 23 points from 22 matches and needs the support of its fans to escape the threat of relegation.

On the other hand, São Paulo comes into the match with a fresh victory against Botafogo but is reeling from a 2-0 defeat to LDU in the Copa Libertadores. Coach Hernán Crespo may make changes to the lineup, keeping in mind the upcoming second leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals on Thursday.

Vojvoda will be without star player Neymar, who suffered a thigh injury during practice last week. Additionally, Gabriel Bontempo and Willian Arão are sidelined due to injuries, while Zé Ivaldo and Igor Vinícius are suspended. Benjamín Rollheiser returns after suspension and is expected to start.

“We need to focus on this match and regain our confidence,” said Vojvoda ahead of the game.

For São Paulo, Crespo may choose to rest key players as they prepare for a more significant challenge midweek. Players like Enzo Díaz and Alan Franco could see reduced minutes, giving a chance to new signings to gain match fitness.

The potential lineups for Santos include goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão and defenders Mayke, Adonis Frías, and Luan Peres. Meanwhile, São Paulo is likely to start with Rafael as the keeper and includes players like Rafael Tolói and Dinenno up front.

The match will be broadcast live on Sportv and Premiere, offering fans a chance to witness this important São Paulo derby.
