Nashville, Tennessee — Hozier and Mumford & Sons are set to release a new song titled “Rubber Band Man” on October 24. This collaboration marks the first recorded work between the two acts, who have previously performed together live.

The song is not a cover of The Spinners’ 1976 hit of the same name, but an original piece that showcases the artists’ folk-inspired sound. An Instagram clip featuring Hozier and Marcus Mumford working on the track gives fans a glimpse of its acoustic guitar foundation.

In the clip, Mumford describes part of the song as “the strummy strummy thing” and quotes a line: “You’re a world away/ but you’re still the same/ I know you by heart and I will call you by your name.” The collaboration features reflective lyrics, adding to the anticipation surrounding its release.

“Yeah, that’s gonna be so dope,” Marcus adds with excitement in the video, hinting at the song’s potential appeal. The duo previously shared the stage at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in 2015 and more recently at the Austin City Limits festival in 2023.

Hozier is scheduled to perform at Eddie Vedder’s Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California, on Sunday, followed by a performance at the Austin City Limits festival on October 3. Meanwhile, Mumford & Sons will take the stage for their next live show on October 8 in Chicago.
