Ryder Cup 2025 Matchup Sunday

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The 2025 Ryder Cup is set for an exciting conclusion on Sunday as Europe holds a commanding lead over the United States with an 11.5 to 4.5 score. The final day features 12 singles matches, beginning at 12:02 p.m. ET, at Bethpage Black.

Europe, led by Captain Luke Donald, improved their standing after winning three of four matches in both sessions on Saturday. They only need 2.5 points to retain the Cup, while the U.S. must secure 10 points for victory, a feat never accomplished in Ryder Cup history on Singles Sunday.

Among the standout matches, Scottie Scheffler will face Rory McIlroy at 12:35 p.m. ET. This anticipated matchup could be crucial, as both players aim to perform at their best after experiencing ups and downs in earlier matches. Scheffler is currently 0-3, while McIlroy has had a stellar week.

Captain Keegan Bradley will stress the need for a miraculous turnaround, referencing the New England Patriots’ comeback in Super Bowl LI with his message: “28-3.” His team, however, is struggling; stars Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau have a combined record of 1-7.

The matchups are as follows: Cameron Young (USA) vs. Justin Rose (EUR) at 12:02 p.m., Justin Thomas (USA) vs. Tommy Fleetwood (EUR) at 12:13 p.m., and eight other matches throughout the afternoon. Each match will play to determine who wins the hole, as the players vie for individual glory and team success.

All eyes will be on Viktor Hovland, who is a question mark due to a neck injury sustained prior to the final day. If he cannot play, his match against Harris English will be halved, each side receiving 0.5 points.

Despite the challenges, the U.S. team hopes to turn the tide and achieve a phenomenal comeback in front of their home crowd.
