Anthony Edwards Minnesota Timberwolves Shooting Guard

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been named the best shooting guard in the NBA as voted by league general managers, securing a remarkable 70% of the votes in the 2024-25 poll released on October 9, 2025. This comes after he narrowly led with 33% in the previous season’s voting.

Defined by an outstanding 2023-2024 season, Edwards has become a standout three-point shooter, leading the league with 320 three-pointers made in just 79 games. He also boasted a conversion rate of 39.5% from beyond the arc, having attempted a league-high 811 shots from distance.

At only 23 years old, Edwards has made history as the youngest player to surpass 300 three-pointers in a single season. His notable performance has played a significant role in leading the Timberwolves back to the Western Conference Finals, despite the absence of former star Karl-Anthony Towns.

The Timberwolves received recognition in the poll, being projected to finish fourth in the Western Conference behind the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, and Houston Rockets. As they prepare for the season, the organization aims to capitalize on Edwards’ success, and he has just been selected to represent the United States in the FIBA World Cup, which will take place in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10, 2023.

Edwards expressed his excitement about playing internationally: “Playing for your country is always an honor. I look forward to representing the United States and showcasing what I can do on that stage.”

Throughout his tenure since being drafted first overall in 2020, Edwards has averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game during the 2022-2023 season. His electrifying playstyle, marked by explosive dunks and impressive shooting, has attracted attention from fans and analysts alike.

The Timberwolves are committed to building a competitive roster around Edwards. With established players like Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert, the synergy among the team will be pivotal as they strive to advance deeper into the playoffs this year, reflecting a renewed optimism in the Minnesota franchise.

As the new NBA season approaches, the spotlight remains firmly on Anthony Edwards as he aims to elevate both his game and the Timberwolves’ prospects in the highly competitive Western Conference.
