Kristen Stewart’s Film to Compete at Thessaloniki Festival

Thessaloniki, Greece — Kristen Stewart’s debut feature film, “The Chronology of Water,” will screen at this year’s Thessaloniki International Film Festival as part of the Film Forward competition. This festival aims to highlight innovative films that push boundaries. The festival runs from October 30 to November 9, 2025.
The Film Forward competition includes twelve films, showcasing diverse voices and storytelling methods. The jury for this year’s event consists of renowned figures like choreographer Constanza Macras, filmmaker Christos Massalas, and film programmer Valeria Wagner. Awards include the coveted Golden Alexander for Best Feature Film, worth 8,000 euros, and the Silver Alexander for Best Direction, with a 4,000-euro prize.
Based on Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, “The Chronology of Water” is a poignant portrayal of a woman’s life after a traumatic childhood. The narrative follows her journey into competitive swimming, toxic relationships, and addiction, ultimately finding her identity through writing. The film stars Imogen Poots in the lead role, supported by Jim Belushi, Thora Birch, and others.
The film previously premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival and has secured various international distribution deals. Les Films du Losange is managing its release in France, The Forge is handling U.S. distribution, and the BFI will release the film in the UK and Ireland.
