Strong Cold Front Expected to Bring Rain and Wind to Cincinnati
CINCINNATI, Ohio — A strong fall cold front will sweep through Cincinnati this weekend, bringing rain, wind, and cooler temperatures.
The National Weather Service predicts that this front will start moving into the area Saturday night. Highs leading up to the front may reach 80 degrees, with warm south winds ahead of the approaching storm system.
As the cold front arrives, rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop overnight, with the heaviest rains forecasted for Sunday morning. Forecasters anticipate wind gusts between 30 to 50 mph during this period, increasing concerns for blowing debris and localized power outages.
“We are monitoring the potential for some strong gusts overnight, particularly as the cold front moves through,” said a meteorologist at the National Weather Service. “Locally, we may see gusts reaching up to 50 mph in some areas.”
The forecast indicates that overnight temperatures will drop into the 60s, with Sunday seeing a continuous drop into the 50s throughout the day. Rainfall totals are expected to be moderate, ranging from a quarter to half an inch.
Looking ahead, conditions will improve by Monday, with drying weather anticipated. However, another system will bring additional chances for rain by midweek.
The Cincinnati area will experience a sharp contrast in weather as this cold front signals a change from unseasonably warm conditions to a more typical fall climate.
