The quake was centered approximately 8 miles from Estebanía at a shallow depth of about 6 miles, causing the shaking to be felt more strongly on the surface.

No immediate reports of damage or injuries have come from the area. Estebanía is located in the southeastern region of Azua Province, roughly 64 miles from the capital city of Santo Domingo.
