Kehlani Releases ‘Folded Homage’ EP Featuring R&B Legends
Los Angeles, CA — Kehlani has made waves in the R&B scene since the release of her hit single “Folded” in August. The song, a heartfelt plea for reconciliation, reached No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her most successful track to date. As the year progresses, “Folded” is also emerging as a favorite in the 2026 Grammy race.
In response to the song’s popularity, Kehlani has dropped the “Folded Homage” EP, featuring six new remixes of her chart-topping hit. The EP showcases collaborations with notable artists including Toni Braxton, Brandy, JoJo, Mario, Ne-Yo, and Tank. Each remix highlights the unique vocal prowess of these artists, with Braxton serving as both a “big sister” and “auntie” figure, advising Kehlani to rely on her judgment rather than emotions.
JoJo, taking on the role of a peer, shares her own love experiences in her verse, singing about her struggles with love. Mario’s contribution is a direct response to Kehlani, echoing familiar themes of vulnerability and openness.
The remixes were teased on social media prior to the EP’s launch, building excitement. Kehlani has expressed that this collection is more about honoring the legacy of R&B than just promoting her hit. Kehlani is also working on her next album, collaborating with renowned producers like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, following her Grammy-nominated release in 2024.
As “Folded” continues its ascent in the charts, the featured artists are each making strides in their own careers. Braxton recently concluded her Las Vegas residency, Brandy is set to release her memoir, and JoJo has begun a headlining tour.
For fans of R&B, streaming Kehlani’s “Folded Homage” EP is a chance to celebrate the genre and its iconic voices.
