Claims of Prince William Pressuring Cousins Amid Andrew’s Royal Fallout
LONDON, England – Journalist Emily Maitlis has claimed that Prince William pressured Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice regarding their father Prince Andrew and his future at Royal Lodge, where he has lived rent-free for over two decades. This comes as Prince Andrew faces renewed scrutiny over his ties to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
During her podcast on October 27, Maitlis suggested that William urged the princesses to convince their father to leave the Royal Lodge to avoid potential reviews of their own royal titles. Maitlis stated, “There was a question over whether there had been, earlier in the day, a meeting between Prince William and the princesses, saying, ‘You guys have to get your dad to move out of Royal Lodge, otherwise we will start re-examining the state of your own titles.’”
According to Maitlis, British broadcasters were tipped off about possible developments, resulting in a media presence, including a BBC helicopter, near Royal Lodge. She stated that there were plans for King Charles to visit the Lodge but these were canceled when the situation escalated into a media spectacle.
Sources close to the royals clarified that no such meeting or conversation regarding titles took place, and emphasized that William does not hold the authority to strip titles from his cousins; such actions would require an Act of Parliament.
Despite Maitlis’ claims, one royal insider called the allegations “nonsense,” pointing out that William has a fond relationship with his cousins. Another source indicated that he does not have the power to take titles away.
Prince Andrew, 65, recently announced he would relinquish his Duke of York title amid allegations of sexual misconduct. He stated, “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first.”
It has been reported that Andrew’s decision to vacate Royal Lodge is part of an ongoing negotiation related to his living arrangements with Sarah Ferguson. Insiders suggest that they may seek alternative accommodations, potentially in Windsor.
