Johnson Shines in Valentino’s Resort 2026 Campaign
ROME, Italy – Actress and newly appointed Valentino house ambassador, Dakota Johnson, stars in the fashion house’s Resort 2026 campaign released today. The campaign showcases Johnson in an embellished bohemian gown and a striking red, off-the-shoulder chiffon dress, embodying the whimsical style of designer Alessandro Michele.
Johnson, who has been a long-time muse for Michele, shared her excitement about the collaboration. “It felt like coming home a bit, because I really identify with the clothes he designs,” she told Vogue. “I feel so good in them.” This campaign marks a reunion between the two, as Michele has dressed Johnson for events from the Oscars to the Met Gala.
The campaign was directed by Renell Medrano and photographed by Marili Andre. Alongside Johnson, it features artists Tate McRae, Dev Hynes, and Marisa Berenson. However, it is Johnson who stands out as the embodiment of Michele’s offbeat glamour.
“As a designer, he has such singular taste,” Johnson said. “Every single collection is infused with art and history – yet at the same time, it’s modern and fresh.” She expresses deep admiration for Michele, describing their friendship as “magical” and full of respect.
Johnson noted her discomfort with modeling but found a unique comfort when working with Michele and his team. “It feels so soulful in an industry that can, most of the time, feel quite vapid,” she said. Their recent shoot took place at Cinecittà, a historical film studio just outside of Rome.
She praised the quality of Valentino’s craftsmanship, stating, “The quality of the Valentino clothes is incredible. Every stitch is perfect, and they move so beautifully.”
As Johnson prepares for autumn fashion, she highlighted her love for layering and casual styles. “I’m really into corduroy right now,” she said, sharing her preference for comfortable outfits. Johnson also mentioned a recent mishap with her dog, who “ate all of my shoes,” prompting her to shop for replacements.
Looking forward, Johnson is excited about her upcoming book club, where she will read and discuss new manuscripts. “It’s going to be amazing,” she said, hinting at the special selections planned for the upcoming months.
