Shooting Incident Under Investigation Following Attempted Robbery in Madison
MADISON, Wis. — A man was shot during an attempted robbery on Madison‘s southwest side on Friday morning, according to police.
The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. when officers found a man with a gunshot wound in the 4700 block of Jenewein Road. Authorities believe this shooting is connected to an earlier report of gunfire near the 10 block of Kessel Court, which was reported shortly before at 10:53 a.m.
Fortunately, the man’s injuries were not life-threatening, and he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Initial investigations revealed that the shooting occurred as the man was attempting to make a purchase through Facebook Marketplace.
The Madison Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is overseeing the investigation and confirmed that there is not believed to be any ongoing threat to the public at this time. Officials are continuing to gather information regarding the circumstances of the shooting.
